Well.. I finally got around to making some products for the site. I wasn't sure exactly how to format that page and everything. So, I thought about it for a while before putting it up. Actually, it took so long to create all the products that I had more than enough time to think about it. I decided to go with the simplest solution which was to simply display all products in a gallery format from beginning to end. This way you can see all the products without having to click 'next', 'next', 'next'.. err no 'prev', yeah that one. It's all right there conveniently on one page! You can even select multiple items and do a little shopping cart with cafepress.com. That's who I used to take care of my products and making sure I get paid. It seems like a hassle free solution. I guess I'll find out when I see some sales coming in. I can't believe how nice they look on the site. I'm going to buy myself the Golf Shirt and Mousepad when I get a chance.
So, you've probably noticed it isn't just the merchandise page that got updated. I also fixed the information on the right side of the page where it displays the latest merchandise! It looks real snazzy and works perfect.
Now there's only 2 things left to do. Fill out the help page and figure out how to get my albums uploaded, online, and for sale. When I tried to create my albums it wouldn't accept my MP3's no matter what I encoded them with or what codecs I used. So, I'll probably just have to burn 3 cd's and mail them to cafepress.com so they can publish them for me. It's going to be such an annoying process, especially if I had to keep doing that everytime I have a new CD. But, it's worth it in the end. I'm going to work on that this weekend.
Boy... constructing this site has become extremely hard. There's so many little things here and there that I keep finding that I need to touch up on. It's a grueling process but I feel like I should do it right if I'm going to do it at all. Maybe I'm going a little overboard but I think this site is going to do exactly what I want it to when I'm finished. I've thought A LOT about it.
My first three albums were very experimental. I was learning how to do what I do. I just jumped in with no experience or direction. So, over the years my tastes have changed and I've decided for my next album it's definitely going to be a lot jazzier. I still can't do much with vocals cause I'm living in an apartment complex. I don't have the ability to make much noise without disturbing my neighbors. It's really unfortunate. Some day I'd like to have a big house with a room dedicated just for my music projects. I think without the limitations of how loud I can be I'll feel more compelled to write even more music. The more music I wrote, the more experience I gain, and the better musician I become.
So, for my next album I'd like to write a lot of jazzy music and get used to that style of playing. Then later I'd like to mix that in with some jazzy guitar and other instruments. Then in the near future I'd definitely like to get some songs with more lyrics out. People love songs with lyrics. They always tell me it gives the song more meaning. So, that's my goal. It might be a little while before I can pull it off though. Please be patient. My new jams won't be bad though, I promise! I've come a long way in the 15 years I've been playing music. I've only been recording now for 12 years.
After this site is finished I'll be adding a few more songs that I've had in my head for too long that need recorded. Stay tuned!
I'm pretty happy with the site layout. There's a lot of things that need some tweaking here and there but for the most part, this is it! I think it's very classy, easy on the eyes, and web 2.0 looking. It should be pretty simple and easy to use. If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions, etc just leave some comments or contact me!
For years now I've been writing music with no satisfactory method of showcasing or archiving my work in any way. I've also dreamed about the day I'd have a website for my music projects. I always knew that I would be extremely picky when it came to my own music website. Because of this I never started it.
Well, I've finally got it together. I've decided what I want, how I want it, and what direction I'd like to go with all of this. So, here it is. The new scottyjams.com website! I couldn't be happier with the way it came out. I hope you enjoy it as much or MORE than I do
I've run into trouble with the company producing my CD's... something about my mp3's aren't good enough. There will be a delay getting the albums up. Sorry! No results
