Detroit Red Wings fans -- who do you consider more of a rival, the Blackhawks or the Avalanche?
I'm trying to settle an argument. Which team do the Wings hate more and consider more their rival? The Hawks are the natural rival while the Avs have shared several Western Conference Finals with the Wings. I'm not a Detroit fan so I can't answer this question but I'm looking for your opinions. Thanks!
I guess a lot of fans are living in the recent past. The Aves have not been good since the 2003/04 season and have been fodder for the Wings since that time. All the hated 'Lanche players have long since moved on or retired and the bitterness wore off a good 3 seasons ago. The Hawks have recently been a thorn in the Wings side of late and last year they were downright owning the Wings in the regular season. Right now neither is a big rival....you might want to say the Ducks have been the Wings biggest rival the past 4 or 5 seasons but with the rise of the young Hawks I expect the rivalry to heat up in the next year or two (it might get real fun...and nasty, next round and build from there). Just because the Wings have the natural rivalry I say it currently and in the near future will be the Hawks....if one wishes to go back to pre-lockout then it is the Avalanche.
